Summer 2020 – TNF Tennis Tournament & 5th Annual TNF Walkathon
During this year walkathon, lot of things were the same like last year, but then lot of things were very different.
It was same dedicated and enthusiastic crowd walking for a noble cause; south Indian breakfast with filter coffee; tri-color and red-white-blue flags and balloons celebrating the mother land and the home land.
But then, a lot of things were different. Donations and sponsorships reaching more than $14,000 (nearly a 50% increase from last year); a Yoga session to warm up the participants before the race, environment friendly stainless-steel tumblers for filter coffee, bio-degradable plates and cutleries and disuse of single-use plastic water bottles; nannari sarbath to the delight of all the attendees.
Above all, a youth fair with activities like youth-driven magic show, training in art-work…kids were no where to be seen running around. They were all engaged by the burgeoning youth committee. A true evidence of next-generation taking on this cause.

TNF Central Ohio Chapter successfully conducted the Table Tennis & Tennis Tournaments for the 2nd consecutive year. TT tournament was held on Saturday, June 15th 2019 at Spin & Smash Ping Pong Center, Columbus, and the Tennis tournament was held on Sunday, June 23rd 2019 at Wicker Tree Tennis Club, Columbus, OH.
The weather was predicted to be a bit rainy on the day of the Tennis tournament but it turned out to be a beautiful day with blue skies and pleasant temperature for an outdoor game.
There was tremendous response from the community including men, women and youngsters of all skill levels. Total of 65 individuals registered for the Singles and Doubles TT matches. We had 46 individuals participating in the Tennis matches.

தமிழ்நாடு அறக்கட்டளை நடுவண் ஒகையோ கிளையின் (Tamil Nadu Foundation – Central Ohio Chapter) சார்பில் மூன்றாம் முறையாக கடந்த ஆகஸ்ட் 18 அன்று நெடுநடை நிகழ்ச்சி நடத்தப்பட்டது. நிகழ்வு முழுவதும் வானம் ஏனோ மேகமூட்டத்துடனே காணப்பட்டது. ஈகை நிறைந்த நெஞ்சங்களில் மழை வீழாதிருக்க இயற்கை அன்னை தன்னைத்தானே கட்டிக்கொண்டது போல் காட்சியளித்தது. கார்மேகம் மழை பொழிய காத்திருக்க, கலந்துகொண்டவர்களின் நடையின் வேகமும், முகத்தின் புன்சிரிப்பும், இளைங்கர்களின் துடிப்பும், உண்ட உணவில் அறுசுவையும் ஒருசேரக் கலந்து இருண்ட வானிலையைக் கூட மிளரச் செய்தது என்றால் மிகையாகாது. இருநூறுக்கும் மேலான அன்பர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு கிட்டத்தட்ட $10,000 வெள்ளி திரட்ட உதவினர்.

தமிழ்நாடு அறக்கட்டளை – நடுவண் ஒகையோ கிளை
ஆதரவாளர்கள் சந்திப்பு நிகழ்ச்சி
தமிழ்நாடு அறக்கட்டளை – நடுவண் ஒகையோ கிளையின் (Tamil Nadu Foundation – Central Ohio Chapter) சார்பில் சென்ற ஆண்டு நடந்த நெடுநடை நிகழ்ச்சியின் மூலம் திரட்டப்பட்ட நிதியினைக் கொண்டு தமிழ்நாட்டில் நாகப்பட்டினம் மாவட்டத்தில் படிப்பில் பின்தங்கிய மாணவர்களுக்காக நடத்தப்படும் TNF-ABC திட்டத்திற்கு உதவப்பட்டு வருகிறது. இந்த திட்டத்திற்கு தொடர்ந்து உதவிவர ஏற்பாடுகள் நடந்த வண்ணம் இருக்கின்றன.
இதனிடையே, இந்தக் கிளை, ஆதரவாளர்கள் சந்திப்பு நிகழ்ச்சி ஒன்று ஏற்பாடு செய்துள்ளது. ஏப்ரல் 17-ல் நடைபெறும் இந்நிகழ்ச்சி, தமிழ்நாடு அறக்கட்டளையின் செயல்பாடுகளையும் (flood relief efforts, summer internship opportunities in India for high school students, etc.), நடுவண் ஒகையோ கிளையின் செயல்பாடுகளையும் (Nagapattinam school district ABC project updates, upcoming walkathon details, etc.) விளக்கும் கூட்டமாக அமையும். இதனுடன், அமெரிக்கப் பல்கலைக்கழகங்கள் மற்றும் கல்லூரிகளில் இளங்கலை மாணவர் சேர்க்கை செயல்முறை (college admissions planning) மற்றும் அறிவியல் கண்காட்சி (science fair) விவரங்கள் போன்றவை தன்னார்வத் தொண்டர்கள் மூலம், பங்குபெறும் ஆதரவாளர்கள் பயனடயும் வகையில் பகிர்ந்துகொள்ளப்படும்.
ஆதரவாளர்கள் இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் கலந்து கொண்டு, பயன்பெற்று தொடர்ந்து ஆதரவு தருமாறு கேட்டுக் கொள்கிறோம்.
